The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) launched the Number Portability Service last August to provide the Sri Lankan public with the ability to obtain the same telephone number from every telephone service provider.
Accordingly, they conducted a public consultation on this service last January. Accordingly, the Chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka, Aushadha Senanayake, had stated that he hoped to obtain the necessary practical and technical assistance from the Telecommunications Authority of Pakistan for this purpose.
On June 26, they wrote on the official Twitter account of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka that they were in the final stages of the legal process for this service.
When Number Portability lauches in Sri Lanka?
Accordingly, they further stated that the establishment of a central clearance agency and systems through all telephone operators and the legal process required to streamline the operating framework are in the final stages.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has previously stated that it expects to introduce this service to consumers by 2022.
