User Instructions for Mobitel SIM Replacements

  1. How to change the SIM number?
    1. a)  Log into Mobitel website; www.mobitel.lk and select “SIM Change
    2. b)  Insert your mobile number
    3. c)  Insert your National Identity Card number
    4. d)  Insert your Mobitel PIN
    5. e)  Insert the code of the SIM which is printed in the scratch card
    6. f)  SMS will be sent to the entered mobile number to confirm the transaction.
      1. If the user responds with “YES” OR if a response is not received within 30 minutes, SIM will be changed
      2. If the user responds with “NO” for the above SMS, SIM change will not happen
  2. How to get a Mobitel PIN for existing Mobitel users?

If you do not have a Mobitel PIN for your Mobitel connection, please refer following steps to register for the service and create a PIN for the mobile number.

Step 01 – Registration

  1. a)  Dial #171# & Select ‘PIN Registration’
  2. b)  Enter your NIC Number & Confirm
  3. c)  A ‘Registration Code’ will be sent to your phone.

Step 02 – Create a PIN

  1. d)  Dial #171# & Select ‘Create PIN’
  2. e)  Enter your NIC Number & Confirm
  3. f)  Enter your ‘Registration Code’
  4. g)  Enter a 6 digit PIN of your preference & confirm

3. How to reset PIN for Mobitel users who have already created PIN but forgotten/misplaced?

If you have already created a PIN for your Mobitel connection and you have forgotten or misplaced it, please refer following steps to reset the PIN.

PIN Reset

  1. a)  Dial #171# & Select ‘PIN Reset’
  2. b)  Enter your NIC Number & Confirm
  3. c)  PIN Re-set will be completed after 24 hours and notification SMS will receive upon completion.
  4. d)  Register for a new PIN by dialing #171#
