The ransomware attack on a number of companies around the world last Friday went down in history, becoming the highest ransomware attack ever reported.
The ransomware attack, carried out by a group of hackers of Russian origin known as REvil, has reportedly deactivated more than 200 American companies and more than 100 companies around the world.
The attack has so far disabled more than a million computer systems, especially after the hacking of an IT firm called Kaseya last weekend, which has left hundreds of Swedish supermarkets inactive.
The hackers have announced that they will provide $ 70 million through Bitcoin to provide a tool that can decrypt the information encrypted through this attack.
Last June, the same hackers launched a cyber attack on JBS, the world’s largest meat supplier, and extorted $ 11 million.
The FBI said in a statement that it was not possible to respond individually to the attacks, and that all its resources were currently being used to investigate the attack under the watchful eye of President Joe Biden.
