CEB Power Cut Schedule Increases From August 16th as Norochcholai Breakdown : According to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), the daily power outage is probably going to be prolonged starting tomorrow (16).Because of the malfunction in Unit 01 of the Norochcholai Power Plant, according to PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake, the power outage would last longer.

He stated the power outage will be extended starting tomorrow and would remain at one hour and 20 minutes today.Due to a minor breakdown repair at the Norochcholai coal power plant, the power outage will be prolonged.
He stated that it will take roughly 14 to 16 days to do the restoration work.Janaka Ratnayake added that the Commission’s approval is required before the official notice of the power outage can be made.
Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera earlier today confirmed the malfunction and said technical workers at the power facility were trying to locate the problem.
He added that while Unit 3 would continue to run, Unit 2 of the power plant is undergoing regular maintenance.The West Coast and other Fuel Power Plants will be employed to regulate the supply, Minister Wijesekera added.
