Saturday.<\/li><li>3,4,5 \u2013 Thursday &amp; Sunday.<\/li><li>6,7,8,9 \u2013 Monday, Wednesday &amp; Friday.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3>News in Detail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Power &amp; Energy today (July 16) introduced the National Fuel Pass which allows the general public to purchase a guaranteed quota of fuel per week for their personal vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fuel pass was launched with the technical support of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA), with the intention of easing the fuel queues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-techshits wp-block-embed-techshits\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"HT18KNgPkA\"><a href=\"https:\/\/techshits.com\/national-fuel-pass-crosses-1000000-registration\/\">National Fuel Pass Crosses 1,000,000 Registration<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;National Fuel Pass Crosses 1,000,000 Registration&#8221; &#8212; TechShits\" src=\"https:\/\/techshits.com\/national-fuel-pass-crosses-1000000-registration\/embed\/#?secret=ElNISKQXTW#?secret=HT18KNgPkA\" data-secret=\"HT18KNgPkA\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Accordingly, one vehicle can be registered under one National Identity Card (NIC), passport number or business registration number, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara said joining the launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A QR code will be allocated to each vehicle following the registration and verification of the chassis number, the vehicle registration number, the number plate and other details by the Motor Traffic Department (DMT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The members of the public can obtain fuel twice a week according to the last digit of the number plate, using the QR code assigned to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Number plates ending with 0, 1, or 2: Mondays and Thursdays<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Number plates ending with 3, 4, or 5: Tuesdays and Fridays<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Number plates ending with 6, 7, 8, or 9: Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The QR code can be kept as a screenshot on one\u2019s mobile phone. Those who do not possess a smartphone can keep a printout of the QR code with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will be the only pass that the government will allow people to purchase fuel, not only from Ceylon Petroleum Corporation\u2019s filling stations, but also from Lanka IOC filling stations as well, the minister stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the quota of fuel allocated to a vehicle is subject to change in line with the availability of fuel reserves in the country.
