Stack Overflow Sold to Giant Prosus for $1.8 Billion

If you like programming, or work in that field, you probably know about the Stack Overflow website or will be a frequently used website.

Ranked 46th among the world’s most visited websites, Stack Overflow has been the life-saving website of developers around the world since 2008.

However, the site and Stock Exchange affiliate services are now valued at $ 1.8 billion, according to Prosus N.V., a major European investor investing in technology. Steps have been taken to sell the company.

Although the name is not very familiar, Prosus is one of the most heavily invested companies in the world, for example owning the largest number of shares in the well-known Tencent Company.

In 2001, Naspers, the parent company of Prosus, bought a 46.5% stake in Tencent for $ 34 million, and in early 2021 sold 2% of the total stake in Tencent for $ 14.6 billion.

However, Joel Spolsky, co-founder of Stack Overflow and Prasanth Chandrasekar, CEO of Stack Overflow, have stated that there will be no change to the existing Stack Overflow website or affiliate services (or any minor changes).
