Google IO Extended is a series of events that take place around the world, allowing developers to connect and learn about the latest developments in Google’s technology. Sri Lanka, an emerging tech hub in South Asia, is no exception, and the Google IO Extended event held in 2023 promised to be an exciting opportunity for the country’s tech enthusiasts.
The event was hosted by Google Developer Groups (GDG) Sri Lanka, in collaboration with several other local tech organizations. It took place at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Colombo, the country’s capital city, and attracted a large number of developers, entrepreneurs, and technology enthusiasts.
The keynote address was delivered by Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai, who shared his vision for the future of technology and Google’s role in shaping it. He spoke about the company’s focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning, and how these technologies are transforming industries across the globe.
One of the highlights of the event was the various sessions and workshops, covering a range of topics from cloud computing and data analytics to mobile app development and virtual reality. Attendees had the opportunity to interact with Google experts and learn about the latest tools and technologies available on Google’s platform.
There were also several networking sessions, allowing attendees to connect with other developers and entrepreneurs, share ideas and learn from each other’s experiences. Many of the attendees were students, who saw this event as an opportunity to kickstart their careers in tech and gain exposure to the latest trends and developments in the field.
In addition to the main event in Colombo, several other cities around the country hosted their own Google IO Extended events, allowing even more people to participate and engage with the global tech community.
